This study aimed at exploring language learning strategies applied by successful EFL learners, specifically in learning language elements: vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar. This study employed qualitative design, involving three participants identified as successful EFL learners. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and document examinations. Miles and Huberman’s model was used as the technique of data analysis. The research findings demonstrated that successful EFL learners in this study employed cognitive, memory, and compensation strategies in learning vocabulary. In learning pronunciation, cognitive and metacognitive strategies were utilized. Meanwhile, in learning grammar, EFL successful learners used cognitive and social strategies. Cognitive strategies were the most frequent strategies used by the participants, while memory, metacognitive, and compensation strategies were the least.

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is an infection and communicable disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. One of the risks to develop active tuberculosis is diabetes mellitus (DM), with two or three times higher than TB patients without DM. Several studies have reported that DM was associated with poor clinical outcomes characterized by a delay of smear sputum conversion or culture conversion in TB patients with DM. However, very limited studies that analyze uncontrolled diabetes by HbA1c level with clinical outcome of TB treatment. This study aims to review the correlation between HbA1c levels and sputum or culture conversion in TB patients with DM. Pubmed, Web of Science, and Embase database were used to search and select the article. We included five studies that met the inclusion criteria. Smear conversion rate at two months was lower in TB patients with DM than those without DM. Uncontrolled HbA1c levels > 6.5%-7.0% were significantly associated with smear conversion of culture conversion for more than two months with a high risk of treatment failure. The positive level of smear sputum at 2-3 months or the end of the intensive phase becomes a strong predictor a failure treatment at the end of the advanced phase. It can be concluded that HbA1c levels delay the smear sputum or culture sputum for more than two months. This review highlights a need for more attention to control HbA1c levels in TB patients with DM to achieve a better outcome.

Abstract:To achieve the objectives of learning in the classroom many things are needed, because the process is a complex phenomenon. One of the influences is the educator's understanding of the existence of students. Educators must know the views of various streams of education about students. This paper focuseses on nativism, empiricism, and convergence in understanding students. The flow of nativism holds that the development of students is determined from birth. This stream believes that human development is determined by its defenders. Environmental factors have less influence on children's education and development. Therefore, the results of education are determined by birth-born talent. The flow of empiricism assumes that children born into the world are like white paper. White paper will have patterns and writing that are scratched by the environment. Educators as external factors play a very important role, because educators provide an educational environment for children, and children will receive education as experience. This experience will shape the behavior, attitudes, and character of the child based on the educational goals.

The high uncontrolled blood glucose level in people with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is still often found that is resulted from the factor of psychological stress. One of the interventions to help normalize the blood glucose level is progresive muscle relaxation (PMR). Therefore, this research was purposed to find out the effect of PMR towards blood glucose level in patients with DM type 2 (DMT2). This research was pre-experimental done by applying one group pretest posttest design. The population involved all patients with DMT2 without complications hospitalized in Surabaya Islamic General Hospital, in which 22 respondents were taken as the samples by using simple random sampling technique. The independent variable was PMR, whereas the dependent one was blood glucose level. The instrument used to measure blood glucose level was a glucometer. Moreover, the data were analyzed by using paired T-test with the significance level of α = 0.05. The result of research showed that before receiving PMR, the average blood glucose level was 238.40 mg/dl, whereas before receiving PMR, the average blood glucose level was 125.68 mg/dl. Moreover, the result of Paired T-test showed that p = 0.000 < 0.05 so that H0 was rejected, illustrating that there was an effect of PMR toward blood glucose level before and after receiving PMR Discussion: In conclusion, PMR could decrease blood glucose level Therefore, the nurses in hospital should be able to do PMR done at home to balance blood glucose level in patients with DMT2 so that they can be more relaxed and independent.
