This research aims to study the value, the policy, the design, and also the application of character building education in Miftahul Ulum tambakrejo elementary school. The character building in Miftahul Ulum Tambakrejo elementary school consists of religious value beside independence and careness. In order the policy to be successful, the character building includes three points: 1) about learning such as giving more time for religion subjects, 2) the capacity building for teacher, 3) outside class activity such as supplying “my diary†book. The character building education in Miftahul Ulum Tambakrejo elementary school was applied inside and the classroom. The activity inside the classroom was applied with integrated model and strategy, namely integrated all the subjects with character value and related to the character in daily life. Meanwhile the approach used is inculcation approach. It is an approach that uses example in learning procces such as warshipping activities in the school. The character building outside the classroom was applied by having outbound, outdoor, extracurricular and worshipping custom. These activities will then be a good habit, so that the students always do positive thing.

Dalam pelajaran pendidikan kewarganegaraan, dengan materi pelajaran yang cukup padat dan sering berganti materi karena mengikuti perkembangan pemerintahan, juga menjadi beban yang cukup berat bagi siswa untuk dapat berprestasi secara maksimal. Siswa kurang berminat dalam mengikuti pelajaran pendidikan kewarganegaraan. Hasil yang diperoleh selalu kurang sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Berdasarkan pengalaman peneliti mengadakan tes PKn dan diperoleh nilai rata-rata siswa sangat memprihatinkan. Dari jumlah siswa 35 orang mencapai rata-rata hanya 36,77 pada ulangan pertama dengan ketuntasan 0%. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dalam materi budaya politik melalui implementasi metode teka teki silang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dengan 2 siklus, dengan tahapan perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan strategi teka teki silang sangat memuaskan. Dibuktikan dengan nilai rata-rata kelas mencapai 87,5 dengan perolehan presentase 100% diatas nilai KKM. Motivasi belajar siswa setelah menggunakan strategi teka teki silang meningkat, aktivitas siswa bergairah, rasa percaya diri dan kreativitas siswa meningkat tajam sehingga KKM tercapai.

The purpose of this research is to find out the user's response to e-module based on android products to facilitate learning process. Likert scale with four variations of the answer was the scale used in this study. Research data were analyzed by quantitative descriptive. The result of the research showed that e-module based on android products have met the eligibility criteria with the category "very good" so it is worth to use. The data of the research showed that User’s response to e-module in this case teachers and students obtained “very good†category with the feasibility percentage of each are 84.38% and 81.67%.

The purpose of this research is to describtive from of interference morphology of Betawi malay language against Minangkabau languange. The aspect is (1) afiksasi, (2) reduplikasi, (3) komposisi, dan (4) akronimisasi. Methodology of research that used in this research is describtive method subject of this research is indigenous Padang city teenager total amount of Padang city teenager that made as repotrman of cardinal. According to this research result, it can comlude that ther are interference morphology Betawi malay language against Minangkabau language in Padang city teenager community. Interference morphology Betawi malay language against Minangkabau language in Padang city teenager community encompass interference to word a afiksasi and reduplikasi aspect.

AbstractThe present research was an attempt to systematically investigate the improvement of teaching collaborative strategic reading (CSR) technique on students’ reading comprehension of descriptive texts in Year-8 of “SMP Negeri 18 Pontianak†in the academic year of 2016/2017. The research was a classroom action research which consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. It was done in three cycles. The subject of the research was Learning Group VIIID with 35 students. The data were collected by an observation and measurement technique. The tools were observation checklist, field note and reading test to observe the students’ behaviors in the classroom. The result showed that the students could comprehend a descriptive text because the teaching and learning behaviors were improved. The improvement of the behavior of students and teacher in the classroom affected the improvement of students’ skill in reading. Sharing in group discussion made students’ social skill getting better and more active in the classroom. Therefore, the students’ achievement was improved significantly. As a conclusion, the problems that the students faced could be solved through group discussion using CSR technique. Keywords: Collaborative Strategic Reading, Reading Comprehension, Descriptive Text        Â

AbstractThe purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of using pop song with lyrics as a medium to teach present future tense to Year-10 students of SMA Negeri 09 Pontianak in Academic Year 2017/2018. It was a pre-experimental study with a single group pre-test post-test design. The sample was Learning Group X MIA 3 of Year-10 that consisted of 36 students. The technique and the tools of data collection of this research was a measurement technique by giving the students a written test in a multiple choice form which consisted of 20 items. The research findings showed that the students’ mean score of pre-test was 43.19 and the students’ mean score of post-test was 83.61 It means that the score after the treatment was higher than before the treatment. The treatment affected the teaching of present future tense significantly where the t-value is 23.36 and the degree of the effectiveness of the treatment is 3.73. AbstractThis research was conducted to find out the most dominant ungrammatical forms made by the students of Year-10 in SMA Negeri 10 Pontianak in academic year 2016/2017. The researcher applied descriptive research as the method. In order to answer the research problem, the researcher conducted several steps to find out the ungrammatical forms. First, the researcher collected the corpus as the source of the data. After that, the researcher sorted out the data that contain ungrammatical forms and calculated the total of ungrammatical forms. In this research, the ungrammatical, the researcher divided the ungrammatical forms into ungrammatical phrase and ungrammatical clause. Total ungrammatical phrases made by the students are 126 with ungrammatical noun phrase dominated it. The ungrammatical clauses are 233 times made by the students with ungrammatical nonfinite verb as the most dominant ungrammatical form encountered. This research covered the needs both teacher and students what are going to with result and as the reflection for better teaching learning process especially grammar in English. Keywords: Analysis, Grammaticality, Students’ Writing

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of clustering technique to teach writing descriptive texts. This research was conducted to Year – 8 students of SMPN 01 Semparuk in Academic Year 2017/2018 by administering a written test before and after the treatments. The researcher applied a pre-experimental design. The population of this research was all of Year – 8 students of SMPN 01 Semparuk in Academic Year 2017/2018, and the sample was taken from Year – 8 Class C which consists of 33 students. The data were analyzed by using t-test and effect size formula. The findings showed that the students’ mean score of post-test (72.22) was higher than the students’ mean score of pre-test (44.19). On the other hand, the findings also showed that the t-test (16.94) was higher than t-table (1.697) and the effect size (2.88) was categorized as strong effect. In conclusion, the use of clustering technique is significantly effective in teaching writing descriptive texts. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis which stated “Clustering technique is significantly effective to teach writing descriptive texts to Year – 8 of SMPN 01 Semparuk in Academic Year 2017/2018†was accepted.                                                                                        Key words: Clustering Technique, Teaching Writing, Descriptive Texts, Pre  Experimental Study

AbstractLanguage available in a newspaper is consumed in a wide public or society so that the sentence structure available in a newspaper is usually constructed carefully according to the level of consumer or reader. Newspaper also plays the major role in accelerating language study. Newspaper sentence structures are composed from various types of tenses and various types of sentences. The research method apply for this is research is textual analysis since the research is analyzing the descriptive in the newspaper. After analyzing the sentence structure in The Jakarta Post newspaper, it is found that descriptive consists of 4 types of sentences and resulted in 371 sentences were found in total. The 371 sentences consist of 86 sentences in simple sentence, 74 sentences for compound sentence, 169 sentences for complex sentence and 42 for compound-complex sentence. The sentence structures found in Jakarta Post newspaper are well structured and recommended for further tool for studying reading for enhancement process. Keyword: Descriptive analysis, Grammar, Language, Newspaper, Sentence structure, The Jakarta Post.
